I'd love to go on one last holiday outside school holidays before child starts school.

I'd love to go to India, mainly Rajasthan.

We'd be going in late May/early June.

does anyone have any experience of doing something similar, top tips, other destination recommendations?

thanks in advance

Only that I'm Envy.

I thought Rajasthan was like a fairy tale when I went a few years ago Smile. It will be hot then, don't think it gets wet until later on in the summer.

FWIW I didn't get ill when I was in India, I was very strict with the water and teeth brushing. Our hotel had yummy continental breakfasts so I stuffed myself with them before we headed out each day. And I was veggie, the meat eaters I was with all got a little bit ill.

You'll all need jabs though.

DH and I went, about 20 years ago. We were also careful with water and teeth cleaning, and both ate only veggie food.

DH had the trots for two months straight, and didn't recover until we returned home. I had explosive D&V on a weekly basis. There's no way I would take a kid. There seems to be no way to avoid it. You are either lucky, like Meglet. Or not.

IMO, 5 is probably too young but of course depends on the child. I stayed in a fort in Rajastan with most amazing views, wonderful terrace off the bedroom and a 1 foot barrier around it with a 200 foot drop down the cliff side ... up until that point I'd been thinking maybe my kids would enjoy it.

Agree with comments re food, and general hygiene, poverty etc makes it very difficult for young kids.

Feel bad to put such a downer on it, but I'm saving it for when my kids are older.

I agree that 5 is too young. I went with DD last year when she was 14. We went to the north to Rishikesh and stayed here.

I can't praise Snowleopard Adventures enough- they are a very impressive company. We had no illnesses at all and had the time of our lives.
