Gruffalo - the show

My ds (1.11) loves the Gruffalo. The show is on near me soon and I thought he would love to go.

But, it's billed as being for 3 and up. Ds is just under 2. Will he enjoy it? Will it keep his interest for 55 minutes?

I don't want to go if he won't enjoy it, or if he is moaning and whinging and it spoils others' enjoyment.

Has anyone been? What do think about taking a 2 year old?

I took ds1 when he was 2y4m. To be frank I think that the first 20 mins or so was just above him, and he sat on dh's knee (shaking in places, but he had just woken up). Once the audience particpation kicked in, he enjoyed it, but we were mainly doing because we knew ds1 would enjoy it, and ds2 was brought along.

I took my DS 4 and 2 to see Gruffalo in July..well really DS was about 2 1/2 and he enjoyed bits of it but probably borderline on the age. DS 4 was joining in and the show is great but I reckon if he's just under 2 then he may get a bit restless. Saying that it's only 55 mins and if you can bag an aisle seat and don't mind the ticket cost then why not try. Must admit I did expect the characters to be very obvious who they represent but it is quite arty and def geared for older children. Hope this helps..

uumm! ds2 waqs just 3 when he went and he loves the gruffalo, but even so he did get fed up in places, however he loved the singing and still sings g-g-g-g-gruffalo, wherever he goes, which is ratehr cute and he did get a gruffalo soft toy that stays ion his bed and he won' t go to sleep without it.

has your ds ever been to the cinema? if he has and managed to sit through it then this is a good indication of if he will last through the performance. oh and make sure you get good seats with a good view, first level, first row balcony seats are good, because they are higher up and can see everything.

Thanks for all your replies. I think on balance we'll give it a miss and perhaps catch it again if it comes around next year.
