Hi, has anyone been to Disney in LA? We are thinking of going en route to San Diego and were wondering if anyone had any hotel recommendations?

Also, is universal studios worth doing as well?

Thanks!

Hi jazal,
I havn't been to California ( Anaheim ) Disneyland yet - planning that for next year, but I have been to WDW Florida and Disneyland Paris lots of times.
For information about Disney and other theme parks, hotels, sightseeing etc in California, I suggest you try the Trip Advisor Anaheim California forum. The Destination Experts and other regular Anaheim posters will help.

I've been loads of times. Stay at the Candy Cane Inn. It's bang next door to Disneyland - easy 10 minute walk door to door. It's also pretty much as cheap as they come in that area.

Knotts Berry Farm is good fun, but not as good as Disney if you only have time & money for one.

Also the Discovery kids' museum is about 10 minutes away from Disneyland. Kids Space and Huntington are both great, but they're a bit of drive from Anaheim, especially if you're heading the other way (to San Diego).

jazal - I also used T.A. for a long time for reviews of hotels, restaurants etc, but only came across the forums by accident about 18 months ago.
Now I am the DE for Marne La Vallee Disneyland Paris forum, and it is a HUGE part of my life!!
Can't imagine my days without it now.......

We stayed at the Sheraton in Anaheim and liked it a lot. They did a free shuttle bus to Disneyland which meant that we could leave the car behind. We didn't drive around LA as it is a nightmare and took a trip with Grayline tours to Hollywood and Universal studios and really enjoyed that as well.

This was back in 1986 and I doubt that much has changed since then.

I stayed at The Hyatt Regency for 3 nights before a cruise. It worked for as we had a kids suite, which consisted of a double bathroom with double doors into another room with bunk beds. I booked with virgin Atlantic and a virgin rep came and visited us and gave us some 'kids eat free' vouchers to use in the hotel. The Hyatt also provides a courtesy bus every hour for the three minute ride to the parks.
