Hi, has anyone been to Disney in LA? We are thinking of going en route to San Diego and were wondering if anyone had any hotel recommendations?

There are plenty of hotels in the Anaheim area where Disneyland is located. There are all sorts from Hilton to Hyatt and Holiday Inn.

Have a look at Anaheim hotels on www.tripadvisor.com for up to date reviews. Many of the hotels do a shuttle bus service to this theme park.

I was in Anaheim for a conference in 2009 - the Hilton is lovely, and the Holiday Inn was fine too.

It was easy to walk to the park from most hotels, though there was a bus anyway.

SD is fab - I was there in October, and am back in April, can't wait !

Thanks, will take a look

We love this hotel in Anaheim, and have stayed there 3 times I think.

It is well priced, has a lovely pool, continental breakfast is included in room price, Disney Parks are walkable (about 10 mins) or they run a shuttle bus to/from the park every 30 mins.

Good value, and I would highly recommend. Not hugely fancy and definitely not trendy, but good value, clean, pleasant and well located. If your budget allows, go for the slightly larger room size.

hi earlybird, thanks. i actually saw this one on traveladvisor and it had such good reviews.

but interestingly enough, it wasn't that much cheaper than the sheraton. or was i looking at the wrong rates?

Glad to be of assistance jazal.

I don't know how the CCI compares to the Sheraton - haven't researched it. They may be comparable.

We've always been very happy with the CCI though, so never felt a need to look at others.

When are you planning to go to Disney, and how many days will you stay?

Honestly, if you can afford it, stay at the Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel. Being in one of the hotels directly attached to the park is priceless when you have exhausted parents little ones that desperately need some down-time. Five minutes back to the hotel beats trying to fight your way out of the car park, or waiting for the (admittedly very frequent) shuttles. You simply cannot beat the convenience.
Yes, they're pricey but well worth it.

I'll let you know!

We're doing an 18 night trip to California in 4 weeks time, including 2 nights at Disney.

I booked this place:

www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g29092-d75697-r99339691-Park_Vue_Inn-Anaheim_California.html

I don't expect anything fancy. I chose it on the basis of being right by the DL entrance, the price (including parking, breakfast, evening snack) and tripadvisor reviews. It was a toss up between that and the Candycane. I think the bunkbeds swung it! I also think it was slightly cheaper when I booked.

Didn't seem worth paying DL hotel rates. This is just as close - and it's an expensive enough holiday as it is!

Another vote for the Candy Cane Inn. It's everything you need and a v short walk to Disney. The Disney hotels are very much not worth the money.

thanks everyone for your suggestions. it was a toss-up between sheraton park and hojo and we went for hojo (because of the waterpark!).
