Can someone talk to me about the weather in the LOIRE VALLEY please?

What is it like in August? We've found a couple of great places to stay but we are concerned that the weather may be as patchy as the UK (particulary me who is traumatised after an absolutlely shite washed out holiday in Devon a few years ago!!) Thanks.

I lived out in Angers for 16 months and return frequently. From my experience weather would be fairly consistently 25 degrees or above. Not much rain. The Loire river dries up lots over the summer, after flooding in March/April.

We have a place in the Loire and yes, the weather can be a bit patchy even in August but it is usually quite sunny then. It can get really hot. If you want guaranteed sunshine though, I'm afraid you have to head further south.

CastlesInTheAir - do you rent your place out or do you know anyone local who does? We have found a couple of places online but a local recommendation would be great. Main requirement is a pool!

We were there last August for 10 days - had worried that it would be too hot (were camping) but other than the day we arrived, it was overcast/cloudy and there was quite a bit of rain at times........

JimBob, sadly not as the ILs live there most of the time. I can't recommend anywhere either as everyone I know works in Paris and comes home at the weekend. Sorry not to be more helpful. I've heard Owners Direct is a good website though.

OH NO! Clenched bottom - was it cold too?

Thanks anyway castlesintheair.

No it wsn't really cold, DH was happy in shorts during the daytime, although it was cold at night sometimes - but that's probably not an issue unless you're camping.......
It is a gorgeous area though, we loved it (so did DC)

No not camping! I hate camping Grin

Oh where are you going ??? I'm from Angers ! I'm going to this camping where we will sleep in a bungalow ! Every year we go to my parents but this year I have fancied my own space !

JimBobSquintPants · 28/02/2011 09:09

Summerfruit - that looks good, couldn't get the rentals tab to work though. Our basic problem is that we are antisocial b'stards who just like the place to ourselves Grin

Weather patchy ime, but great area and loads to do. Don't miss the Museum of Magic in Blois for the dc (and you).

And go to the international Festival des Jardins at Chaumont, fantastic place to walk around, great for kids and weird ice creams.

Thanks Hully Smile
