We're going to Lake Garda for 5 days in May half term with another couple.
Has anyone got any hotel or town recommendations and things to do whilst there?

Which part of Lake Garda - it is huge! Can't recommend hotel as we did a campsite near Salo - which has a lovely long walkway along the lake and lots of restaurants etc. You can do boat trips to most towns/villages along the lake. It was lovely!

if you've got a massive budget, and money is no object, look no further than villa feltrinelli.

We are staying in Sirmione.
friend now has a provisional booking at Eden Hotel which seems to have OK reviews on Tripadvisor. Going in Whit half term as our friend is a teacher and hotels are getting pretty booked.
Warthog had a little look at Villa Feltrinelli and we'll probably have to wait for the lottery win for that, or go to Lake Garda for 1 night instead of 4!

I took my mother to Sirmione a few years ago. We stayed on Hotel Continental. I chose it after reading excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, and was not disappointed. I would certainly recommend it, and added my own excellent review and some photos on TA, which you may have seen.
It was easy catching the boats to other towns around the lake, but if you want to go to Limone or Malcesine from Sirmione, you must catch a very early one, or you will not have time.
We went to Malcesine, went up in the cable car to the top of the mountain, then had a short meal near the harbour before catching the last boat back.
The good thing about staying in Sirmione is that you can enjoy this beautiful town in the mornings and evenings - during the day it is very busy with boats bringing other visitors. It has a lovely castle, and ruins of a huge Roman Villa. Also a thermal spa, next to the Hotel Continental.

There is a forum for Lake Garda on Trip Advisor and people there can help you with planning sightseeing.
I bought some guide books of the Lake, read about the different towns around it, and decided which ones we wanted to visit.
