Best time to book a flight?

We are going to Menorca in Ausgust. When is the best time to book the flight to get the best deal? They have gone up by 200 pound since january! Should I book now before they rise further or will they come down a bit nearer the time?

Best time to book is as soon as they come out, they just keep steadily increasing after that and they wont come down nearer the time. So if you can book now then do so.

Is this with one of the low-cost airlines? If so best to book asap. They do occasionally drop a bit at random times, if they have a "sale" Hmm on, but they also seem to increase baggage charges & other costs as the date gets closer, so it's swings & roundabouts.

I have flights booked with Jet2 in June & have been monitoring occasionally, the actual fares went down £12 per person in the post-Christmas sale but since then have gone up & up - £90 when I booked (in Oct), £66 in the sale, £268 2 weeks ago, £288 now. Baggage & check-in charges have gone up too.

We paid £347 in Oct for the lot - inc meals, credit card charges etc - it's £597 now Shock

(Have you looked at scheduled flights, with the big airlines at, all?)
