What was it like?

yes, we went on one when flying to Oz with Qantas about 18 months ago (can't have been long after they were introduced...)

we were in business class - very spacious, lovely comfortable seats, and enough room across our 4 seats (2 by window, 2 in central aisle), for the dds to wander about, thus meaning they didn't have to wander up and down the cabin.

really, really great.

wondering this myself. What is standard class like though?

Lulie110 · 20/02/2011 23:24

Just like any other plane really, just bigger! The plane I mean. And like any plane, there are some 'good seats' and some 'bad seats'. Eg I was once stuck right at the back, in the smallest seat I have been on ever!
If you are able to book seats, look HERE for info on what's good/bad.

I just wondered if you get the sheer size of it when you're on it or does it just become like any other plane?

If and when I get my payout I am planning my trip of a lifetime to Dubai and hong kong, if I buy business class from ebookers and book my accom separate it costs roughly the same as going economy with kuoni.

Emirates use this aircraft so I just wondered if anyone had been on it.

Do you get to sit at the bar in business class and do they have lie flat beds?

yes to lie flat beds. (well, on Qantas, anyway. I would guess that it would be the same on all companies.)

I had 2 small children with me, so not much sitting at the bar, unfortuantely (dd1 was 5, and is ASD. dd2 was 2).

really lovely - fecking enormous plane. honestly, the space was unbelievable. but essentially like any other plane - seats, aisle, in-flight entertainment, aeroplane food (nice, but still aeroplane food!)

IIRC, the business class on Emirates A380 has lie-flat seats not flat-bed seats. So they recline to 180 degree, but are not quite horizontal.

Yip, there is a bar too. It is upstairs, along with all the business and 1st class seats.

Yes we did on emirates between London and Dubai and then Dubai to Bangkok last October. Because with emirates you can watch on demand tv from the moment of getting onboard, DD didn't realise we had taken off! It is a big bugger of a Plane.

I have but my biggest observation was that there was no sense of the scale of the thing.

I did enter through the business class lounge directly onto the plane so didn't see it from the outside. Then couldn't even work out where any stairs were or whether I was up or downstairs!

Felt not different to a 747. But as was very new was extra nicely fitted out so all good.
