Rome apartment - preferably 2 bedrooms

I am going to Rome for 2 nights in early Dec with dh & ds(3). Would prefer the flexibilty of an apartment rather than hotel. Can anyone recommend a good apartment? Prefer 2 bedrooms if possible but a one bedroom plus seperate lounge area might suffice. I've looked at the usual sources i.e. Interhome, Virtualtourist etc but accommodation in Rome seems such a minefield.

I can recommend www.vrbo.com, I've rented with them for a range of places (never Rome), and been very happy. You deal directly with the preoperty owner, so you can ask questions and get useful answers. I've checked, and there are quite a few properties in Rome.
