I have a long list of requirements mainly a hotel with separate sleeping for the children, plus other things....

I want a hotel with half board and either a suite affair with separate sleeping area for the children or interconnecting room.

I need some form of sporting entertainment to keep the dc amused (pay per play would be ideal) but would prefer it not to be "clubby". They would hate Thomson clubs or Mark Warner etc.

A definate no no is anywhere like Blackpool in the sun with British bars and lager louts.

No budget.

Any comments welcome.

Tia

Ickworth? Haven't been, but know people rave about it.

Same goes for Moonfleet

Fimbo · 14/02/2011 16:08

Ah, just read Blackpool - should have looked more closely.

Ok...

Somewhere else that I've never been to, but has been raved about by friends is Sani in Greece

Or Abama don't be put off by the fact that it's in tenerife

If you'd consider long haul, I'd think about the Anahita in Mauritius The accommodation is to die for...

The Le Meridien in Cyprus. They haves suites for rooms, lots of activities for adults and children alike.

The [[http://www.fortevillageresort.com/en Forte Village}] in Sardina. Another great family resort. Tonnes to do for adults and kids. Right on the beach, great spa and kids club. A range of suites.

What age are the DC?

We have stayed at La Manga, villas not hotel, but lots of sporting activities so could be an option. Chia Village in Sardinia, good interconnecting rooms option, has a kids club and sporting activities for older children.

This year have booked Grande Real Sante Eulalia in Portugal for summer, we have a two bedroom apartment. For October half term have booked Iberostar Anthelia in Tenerfie, apparently great for children.

If you like the sound of any of these, then can let you know best websites to book them from.

Oops just noticed messed up link Forte Village Forte Village

Fimbo · 15/02/2011 09:30

Ooh lots of links, thank you so much. It is driving me potty, so you have saved my sanity! I have the Forte resort on my list as I thought it looked good, so it's nice to hear my thoughts are correct. Have also looked at the Grande Real Sante Eulalia and will add that.

Will look up the others. Rookie yes please to the websites.

Dh dismissed La Manga as we are not really into golf or tennis in a big way. We will play tennis but in a mucking around stylee Wink.

You have no idea how greatful I am to you all.

Thank you.

Chia Village www.justsardinia.co.uk/accommodation/57/Chia%20Laguna%20Resort%20Chia%20Village/ can be booked through Just Sardinia, cheaper than the Forte Villages in Sardinia and also travel agent said that there were a lot of flash Russians at the Fortes whereas the Chia works very hard to maintain a good split of nationalities ( hope this does not seem racist am just repeating what travel agent said)

Cheapest prices for Iberostar Anthelia is through their own website, just google it they have 20% discount at the minute.

You don't need to be hugely into tennis and golf to stay at La Manga, they have a boys football training course, a bus to the beach in summer and a variety of restaurants, however it does lack local appeal and outside of the club the rest of the resort is not attractive.

Hope you find something good.

Another vote for the Chia Laguna Resort in Sardinia - we're returning there for summer half term (first time that we've returned anywhere so that speaks for itself)

Here is where we've also booked this year. It's self catering BUT with private catering and babysitting as optional extras which we will use. A Michelin star restaurant in the vicinity doesn't hurt!

This also makes my shortlist for next year.

Also looking for Oct half term too - the Iberostar Anthelia does look tempting....

We went to the Roca Nivaria in Tenerife, Costa Adeje, last Easter and I think that would tick all your boxes - [http://www.adrianhoteles.com/roca_nivaria.php here]

OOh am dribbling at your summer holiday choice selby, it looks very nice.

selby · 16/02/2011 21:06

This is my kind of thread Grin. Another one to add to the wishlist is my friend's holiday destination of choice. She's been here 3 summers on the trot!

notserp · 17/02/2011 12:17

Also check out Pine Cliffs in Portugal and Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus - both of which offer half board and suites / interconnecting rooms for families (and are lovely!). Good sporty stuff and leisure too.

bacon · 18/02/2011 17:05

Another one for Anthelia in Tenerife.

Some hotels in Majorca (top end) do interconnecting rooms too.

I know exactly where yr coming from with yr requirements.

What about some "sunsail" resorts - very sporty but unsure if they have interconnecting.

mrsravelstein · 18/02/2011 17:08

we stayed at la manga last year with 3dc - very disappointed - it was really shabby, very few restaurants and none of them any good, and having been assured by them we didn't need a car, we had to get cabs everywhere...
