Hi,
Im flying with what will be my 18 month old son in May on a 13 hour flight to Singapore.
Ive read lots of advice on what to take on to feed/amuse him but wondered if anyone has any experience of flying with a toddler that just hates sitting and wants to wonder all the time??!!
Im worried he is just going to want to tour the plane for the whole flight :-(
He has started doing this if we go out to lunch and just wants to wonder around the whole time....I know its normal but any advice would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Hi Hols77

Won't he have to be in his car-seat on the plane or have you got him on your lap?!

The only advice I can give is make sure that he runs around ALOT before you get on the plane, and really make a big fuss of him for sitting quietly. Give him his own little trolley case (you can get really cheap fun ones nowadays), and fill it full of cheap little toys for him to unwrap etc.

I made a big fuss before we got on the plane about telling my 18mo (on a flight to NZ) how important it was that he sat in his seat. In fact I kept telling him that for weeks before we left.

It's not easy travelling with a toddler, and there is always phenergan!!! We also had a portable DVD player with lots of toddler type DVD's. An absolute God-send! Also the plane has a childrens channel.

Just try and stay calm, and if he fusses, the best thing is just to let him have a little wander. It's a long flight so you will be glad to get up every now and then. You may also find that he sleeps a lot also.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip.
