Unheated pools in Spain in April

I was wondering how cold swimming pools might be in southern Spain in April. We are flying out to Malaga in early April and would like to rent a villa or apt, but wondering if we need a heated pool - whether the water will be freezing! Can anyone offer any advice? Many thanks!

The water will be pretty cold but it depends who will be swimming in it -not too bad for adults and hardy children but toddlers might be very uncomfortable.

Ah thanks scurryfunge- we have a four yr old and a three yr old, both of whom love swimming and don't really seem to mind the cold, but might not last that long if it's really cold. Hmmm.

I'd take shortie wetsuits so they can still play in it.

We go to spain - near malaga - and there is a shared pool. Our kids have been in it at easter, but it all depends if the days are really warm - if the weather's warm enough, they'll be in it. Not warm enough for me, has to be post-May for me.

we once hired a villa in mallorca in April - the weather was fastastic but the pool was still cold...didnt stop anyone going in it though! but yes, expect it to be cold! my DD was 3, she just went in in shortish bursts or she would have got too cold

We were in C'an Picafort in October and the hotel pools were Baltic temp wise. Yet the sea was a really nice temp, like a warm bath. So that is also an option depending on age and swimming ability of your dc.

We stayed near Malaga, & then in Marbella, in mid to late April & my DSs were OK in unheated pools - they were 10 & 14 at the time.

The second week, in Marbella, the weather was quite a bit warmer (the sand was almost too hot to walk on) & the adults in the party also swam in the pool.

I think our dates were 12th-26th. In early April I would def look for a heated pool Grin
