We live around 40 mins West of London and get these each year. 2009-2010 we did Legoland, Thorpe Park, Chessington twice, London aquarium and Warwick Castle so more than got our moneys worth. 2010-2011 so far we have done Legoland and Chessington, going to Madam Tussards and we will go to Warwick Castle in the summer. We are planning a long day to go to Sealife in Weymouth.

We live 5 mins from Chessington, so yes we get our money's worth! We must go 20+ times a year as in the summer term we often pop up for a couple of hours after school. We also go to Legoland a couple of times, Warwick Castle, London Aquarium, and DH and I went without kids to Thorpe Park.

do you have lots of Tesco clubcard points? you can get a deal for Merlin annual passes here www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=393

There's that many 2 for 1 offers available during the summer holiday's I'm not so sure you'd save very much more unless you were going to a different attraction every week.

confuddledDOTcom · 20/02/2011 13:29

We definitely get our money's worth from them.

There are two cards, Standard for people who go more than most but not regularly which doesn't include London during summer or parking anytime. Premium is for people who go regularly and visit London during the holidays, it includes parking anywhere. Both passes give you discounts in shops and food at attractions but also at other places such as Cafe Rouge.

What a lot of people are doing is getting Standard Pass for all but one person and getting a Premium for one. This is a good idea if you will use the pass a lot during the year but not go to London during August as HV will give you free parking without shelling out on all Premium or all parking.

Probably the best bet would be to work out how often you'll use it and where then see what pass works best for you.

We worked out that we needed to use the standards three times and we'd covered the cost. Our have a month to go and we've done chessington four times, legoland twice, aquarium three times, London eye once and Mme Tussauds three times, so I definitely feel they were worth it.
