Have you checked out tripadvisor??

Haven't stayed in any of them but Caribbean Beach looked nice adn Animal Kingdom sounds a nice theme!

CuriousMama · 13/10/2005 11:24

We stayed in disney sports and wouldn't again. Funnily enought we were just talking last night about trying the animal kingdom one next time if we stay on disney. I was going to check out reviews myself on that one so I'll report back.

CuriousMama · 13/10/2005 11:27

looks good at 4 stars

tiredemma · 13/10/2005 11:29

tripadvisor gives mixed reviews, and the majority of them are from americans who have only stayed in the hotels for about 3 days, I really wanted a british family perspective, and one that is a bit longer (ie 14 days).

My fave is port orleans but dp likes the caribbean beach and the boys want animal kingdom!!!!

wow you do have a dilemma then Have you checked out any off disney? We'll probably end up staying off disney next time but were toying with animal kingdom for the boys.

My friend stayed at caribbean this year and enjoyed it.

I used

www.disboards.com

which has more information on it than you ever probably will need! its abit like MumsNet, but all Disney! It was really helpful, we used to to locate a good hotel, website to book off and loads of Resort tips which were great -

Hope you don't get info-overload

Finbar · 14/10/2005 13:03

I looked at that site - sorry to be dim - what is a disbord? discussion board?

Ulysees · 14/10/2005 13:11

Does it not mean disney boards finbar?

Think I'll add that to faves for when we get round to going again

Finbar · 14/10/2005 13:18

I thought so - but the site extended beyond DIsney! Still I will be saving it for future reference too.

fimac1 · 14/10/2005 13:56

Its an Unofficial Disney site - Disney resorts, Cruises and Orlando info from other Disney-goers

We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Family suites after doing loads of research on disboards - fantastic pool complex for end of the day cool-down/fun

We went in May this year adn stayed in all star movies and it was fine except for the food but all americal food seems fatty and a bit much for me but other than that we were hardly here and my DD loved it as we stayed inthe toy story bldg. i researched an awful lot for myself and my mum who came and stayed outside of the disney resort and thedibb.co.uk website is fantastic and gives talkboard like this at mumsnet andthere is always someone who can give advice and opinions I really do strongly recommend it 9also gives loads more info on rides - all diff theme parks etc. good luck and enjoy the planning! So wish I was going again!

Ulysees · 14/10/2005 14:15

what's the site you're recommending supersonic? can you put the full web address please?

supersonic · 14/10/2005 14:29

sorry! the website addr is thedibb.co.uk
click on 'forums' and this will give you reviews and conversations etc. it is brilliant (well I think so) and has almost all info. you need.

Ulysees · 14/10/2005 15:13

cheers, thought I'd misread so i just put www.dibb.co.uk and got a funny site?

zippitippitoads · 14/10/2005 15:27

Wilderness Lodge is lovely, didn't stay there but had a character breakfast and agreed if i ever did go I would like to be able to stay there

Recommend viewing fireworks from the contmeporary resort grill

We stayed at Port Orleans in April (Riverside, not French Quarter) and found it really nice. You get a boat from the complex down to Downtown Disney, or free shuttle buses to the parks. The pool was nice too, and there are smaller pools dotted about between the different blocks of rooms.

The only thing we didn't like was the limited breakfast range but then we normally go out to the Ponderosa and didn't have a car, and we're vegetarian and all the breakfast deals on site seemed to involve bacon.
