Vaccinations for South Africa for 1 year old

We are travelling to South Africa a week tomorrow to visit my husbands family. I have been before when pregnant, and was told by my nurse that because we were south of south africa I didnt need any, and so in my idiocy, i assumed my son wouldnt need any either, as we going to the same place. Having seen my doctor today and mentioned we were going and he asked if bailin had been vaccinated! I have had a look at what vaccinations are recommended for South Africa and it appears he has had these already with his mandatory immunisations, does he need extra doses?
They say vaccinations should take place 2-4 weeks before travel, we're going in a week!
Advice anyone?

WHere in SA are you going? At this time of year, you will need to take malaria tablets if you're going to game farms in the far north. But in the Cape, you won't need any additional vaccinations.

We are going to a place called Umbhlanga, not too far north from Durban, its coastal and quite touristy, I would have thought it would be safe. Just having a little panic!

Yes, natal should be fine on the coast I would think. Much further north and you're starting to head into malaria territory again but I would think Umhlanga is okay.

Having said that, be prepared for it to be as hot as hell, humid and somewhat unpleasant. [I could be biased as I swore about 10 years ago never go set foot in Natal between October and April and I've stuck to it ever since!]

My mother in law is there presently with her her mum, and yes your right it is hot as hell!
Last time I went it was their winter time, having arrived it was 4 degrees, not a happy bunny! I am prepared with heavy factor sun lotion for Bailin and 40 factor swimwear and shant go out in the sun during the mid day sun. As long as he is safe from diseases and what not I am sure all will be well!
Thank you!

We took DD to South Africa to visit family when she was 12 months. The only vaxes recommended were all the standard ones she'd had anyway. We did give her the BCG though, but that was because of certain aspects to our trip. We might not have done otherwise.
