I found this place in portugal priai d'el rey

and found quite a few of the townhouses/apartments on holiday rentals site for about £800 a week peak season, these have shared pool. The villas are about £1200, with own pool. Site has tennis, football, golf, spa, childrens club etc etc.

The tripadvisor review of the hotel is really good and you can use all the facilities when staying in the houses!

tripadvisor

If you can get cheapie flights it should work out quite reasonably for a two week break.

I think DH and I are going to book. Will go for townhouse I think, then DCs can make friends round the communal swimming pool!

soapbox · 12/10/2005 21:51

Nah - would limit the posh dinners to a couple of nights and go for barbies round the pool the rest of the time. Dh loves cooking barbies!

Surely the queen of shopping has a couple of posh outfits

I'd be too scared to eat if you were there - in fact I'd have to start dieting now

soapbox the islands are all very breezy in greece in august - I find portugal and spain much stiller and hotter. wouldn't go to spain in august again in a hurry but would go to a greek island in a flash.

soapbox · 12/10/2005 22:05

No spa cod

But looks nice.

Beets and PPh will look at Greece again then!

Cod the link posted on the other thread for medhotels was really good - the early booking discounts were good and lots of free child places!

hoxtonchick · 12/10/2005 22:07

pmsl at cod's coked up travel agents

soapbox · 12/10/2005 22:07

PPH - I was looking at the atlantic coast in Portugal as I thought it would be breezier than the algarve.

Have been to algarve in August and was too sticky!

Head to the Northern Islands in Greece in August. Thassos, Skiahos, Skopelos Alonnissos

e.g. Villa Christina in Skiathos

princesspeahead · 12/10/2005 22:10

but atlantic bloody freezing (even in august) and dirty.

greek waters crystal clear and lovely and warm.

can you tell I'm biased?!

princesspeahead · 12/10/2005 22:11

skiathos is very nice...
