Black Forest - any recommendations?

We have been invited to a wedding in the southern Black Forest and would like to make a week of it. We'll probably get the train to Strasbourg and hire a car.
DSs are 11 and 9.
Any recommendations for nice hotels and what to do/where to go?

I went to Freiburg every year of my childhood. We stayed in a little village called Gunterstal where you can go up the Schauinsland mountain on cable cars etc. It really was lovely. Trams everywhere, bratwurst and bockwurst in the Munsterplatz underneath the cathedral. Takes me back just thinking of it Freiburg
