BUTLINS...????

has anyone here been to a Butlins lately and can give some honest feedback?
DD is an only child and loves all the entertainment and making friends/kids club part of a holiday park.
We have always gone to Park Resorts which are small, low key holiday parks and we stay in Gold (their top rate) static caravans which have always been quite nice to be honest. This year she says she is fed up of going there and really wants to go to Butlins?
Have looked at reviews and there are a few good ones but most seem pretty awful Hmm
We have to stay in Uk

Ive been to Haven - Haggerston castle and Berwick both nice clean caravans. Been to Pontins at blackpool before it closed and that was fab and well run. Kids thoroughly enjoyed it. I read some of the reviews for Butlins Skegness and it put me off. My daughter went to Park resort in Sept with friends family and they prefered it to Haven and are going again in May. I know people who have been to Butlins and said it was ok. Think it depends what park you go on though Smile

She will love it.

Personally, we always stay in the hotel at Bognor and it is always clean, the food is good and I've not had any complaints.

The entertainment for the children is pretty much non stop for the whole week. My DDs (7 and 4) love going there, and I go to crash for the week. Personally, I prefer Centre Parcs, but my girls love the disco, the pool (not as nice as CP), the rides, the soft play.

We've always been happy but as others have said, I think it does depend on the park.

centre pars is lovely but not much entertainment and very pricey once you start doing activities etc
Park Resorts has been great! really cheap and been to four different ones and always been very happy with accommodation as long as you get gold its very nice, however the entertainment is pretty much the same thing every year and she is a bit fed up of it.
was thinking about Skegness Butlins because atleast there is a sandy beach up there and its the only butlins with a Spa, Bognor one is not far from the inlaws so be a bit strange going there on 'holiday' :-S

Ive just been looking at Lakeland Haven and its got shocking reviews. Im a bit wary of believing some of the reviews. Some people havent done the holiday parks and they probably are expecting a lot from them. They are what they are and the kids seem to love them regardless.

fif25, yeah thats what Im wondering , if some people are expecting 5* then even Butlins gold isnt going to be that is it.
However.....I saw a couple of reviews saying kids had been bitten by bed bugs !!!! They really should make more of the accommodation because they seem to have the family entertainment things sewn up and its a shame

Ive been to Haven twice and they had really bad reviews. Got there and was given free upgrade and caravans were immacualate. You had to pay for a lot of things on the resort but i knew that before i got there so was prepared. I cant see Butlins Skegness being bad. Its all been refurbished. Pontins was fab but the Soutport ones meant to be boring. I have been looking at hols today and found one for Withernsea sands with Park. I think i will just bite the bullet and book. If its crap at least you know not to go again. I think with the caravans its just luck of the draw tbh.
