Will it be hot enough for swimming in the sea and sunbathing in bikinis etc .

When in May did you go? We are looking at going around the 16th May.

Apparently Makarska, Brac and Split are nice too.

www.croatiatraveller.com/WhentoGo/May.html

'the weather is warm and sunny enough to enjoy exploring the Croatian coast and islands. The average temperature in Zagreb is 16°C (60°F) and in Dubrovnik it's 17°C (64°F). It's not quite beach weather (except maybe towards the end of the month) as the water is likely to be bracing but the sun is reliable enough to give you a good chance of beginning your summer tan.'

yep that about sums it up!

Has anyone been to Mijet, Lastovo, Sipan or Konavle in Croatia?

Or Bar, Budva, Petrovac and Becici in Montenegro?

not hot enough, go in june

nat35 · 18/03/2011 22:38

been to all those places in Montenegro, what would you like to know?

Anice · 30/03/2011 11:54

I've been to all those places in both countries (Sipan = v. upmarket for Croatia!). The sea takes a while to warm up after the winter. By July you'll be fine and June would probably be good too but it depends on how good the spring is if you would find it warm enough to go in the sea in May. Should definately be warm enough to stroll around in light clothes though.
The other advantage of late Spring is that all the blossom is out whereas in July and August its all dried up and there are forest fires.
