Where's best to sit on a plane with a nine month old?

That's it really - going to Greece in May and will be able to choose our seats. 9 month is how old DS will be then... Any suggestions?

You at the front, nine month old at the back.

Which part? Corfu nearer than Crete, flight much shorter.

I saw someone sit right at the front of the plane with their baby, they then made a play area with a blanket on the floor in front of the seats and gradually passed down toys one by one, kept her going for an hour.

Be great if your DS would sleep for a portion of the journey - any chance of that?

Greek people love babies - you'll be made to feel very welcome, all the locals keep their kids up way past midnight, you see them in restaurants til v late, sometimes sleeping on chairs with their heads on parents laps!

LOL scurryfunge

Mainland Greece, I think its about 5 hours. That's a good idea re front seats, blanket & toys on the floor. Thank you.

He's a brilliant sleeper now, so lets hope he continues to be, as guess that will kill another hour...

Not sure who you are flying with, but I know that BA allocate infants into certain seats (bulkhead, so that you can utilise the skycot or flightseats for babies). They're certainly the more comfortable seats with little ones as you have that extra bit of legroom/manouverability.

Baby and your dh in economy, you in Business would be my recommendation.
Otherwise as near to the wings as possible as it is the most stable area of the plane.

Any time I've flown they prefer infants not to sit in the first few rows. I always try and get the back row if I can as it's easier to get on and off the plane with all your bags and you have easy access to the toilets.
Try and board last so that you're on board for the least amount of time and hopefully others will have settled in their seats by then. Also if you get the very back row then you only have to worry about annoying the people in front and not behind you!
Have something for your DS to suck on during take off and landing (like juice etc) so that it doesn't hurt his ears.

Enjoy your holiday!
