and needs to tie in with both the Scottish and English hols!! I'm a Scottish LP with 2 dc (7&8) and we're going to go for a week somehwre hot with a family of 4 (dcs are 9 & 11) from London who we met on hols 3 years ago (been away together or at least met up on hols ever since!!) - had a horribly tough time over last 6-7 months (3 years actually but the last 6-7 months have been particularly tough) and we want to go somewhere hot for a week to escape!!! Needs to be cheap but would like separate accommodation and obviously somewhere that's served by Scottish and London airports. Pool ad beach are essentials!!! Can't seem to find anything - we usually go camping abroad but don't fancy that in April!! TIA!!

Tenerife? If you are prepared to put in the leg work there are some good deals to be had booking flights (ryanair from prestwick or Edinburgh) then booking hotels separately. I have recently used hotels4u.com which is part of the Thompson group, and got the hotel about £200 cheaper than anywhere else. Also, they offer quidco at 10% so you'll get a bit back.

I hate Ryan air too, and after major stress with ash cloud delays last year I vowed I would never fly with them again, but being in Scotland we are royally screwed if we don't aren't we? There we have saved over £800 by booking separately rather than package with first choice/ Thomas cook.
