Hassle free babymoon-holiday for 6months pregnant mum in April?

Hello all ... looking through topics and all seem to be for families with young children. Any recommendations for child-free but 6 month pregnant mum and hubby babymoon? Last possible decent holiday without 'extra baggage'!

We generally do the self-catering/camping/B&B-in-UK type holidays but both have had a tough time the last few months and desperately need a holiday where its all inclusive and we can just lie in pools, do short walks, get massaged in a spa, eat well.

April is the only time we can take off as hubby is a uni lecturer. And thinking out of UK to guarantee weather (short haul).

Currently looking at Lanzarote (as we've both been independantly and loved it). Although other canary islands or France/Spain/Italy also possible. Or anywhere else you want to rave about

Any suggestions would be much appreciated ...

Hi,

What about Ischia in Italy? I haven't been yet (so perhaps a bit silly for me to suggest it) but we are planning a few days there and some of the spa hotels look wonderful for a relaxing holiday. Not sure if they are all inclusive but there are certainly the spa pools etc, and great food. We have been to Sorrento and Naples and the scenery around there is beautiful. It should also be warm enough for you in April.

Thanks Alison .. will look into it. Just realised that the only 3 weeks hubby is off from lecturing (and just at the end of when I'm OK to fly with most airlines) is also the school holidays - so everything seems to double in price!

We are heading to anthelia hotel in Tenerife in May, all inclusive, lovely spa etc.

Other hotels I have been to which are fab

Princess Yaiza in Lanzarote
Los Gigsntes spa and suites hotel in Tenerife
Sensatori resorts also get good reviews.

We went to barcelona when I was 6 months pregnant and had a fab time, lovely and warm, plenty to see and do, nice just to wander about, people watch etc.

There are also some great deals on cruises just now, can recommend royal carribean, and NCL.

Always a problem. If the budget is a bit tight and your are looking for something relaxing rather than luxury being a must - I was looking at this place on Ischia - www.residencelepleiadi.it/en/residence_sant_angelo_ischia - apartments there for from 60 euro per night (studio) for April. You can use the spa pools (apparently there are special rates with the residence), and although it is self catering there will be loads of restaurants around if you don't fancy cooking.

I found a few places there that are very reasonable even during school hols.

Wherever you go at 6 months you may find it relaxing to stay in an apartment/residence type place - if you are a bit tired in the evening then you can stay in and eat something simple, and have an earlyish night - and your husband can stay up a bit longer if he wants to without disturbing you (that was me at 6 months - I realise other women still have the energy to almost run a marathon!)

Thank you for all the tips!

We've indeed been looking at Princess Yaiza - costs at Easter a bit prohibitive though. Although the parents had offered to pay to get me back home with them in Malaysia in March. But I'm not feeling up for such a long haul (13hours) and without hubby - maybe I can convince them to give us the flight cost as a present that we can add to the holiday fund ...

and Cruises! Oh! Hadn't thought about that ...

We did first cruise last year with ds who was 3 at the time.

It would be an ideal holiday for a couple, as much food and drink as you could wish for, some nice shows, lovely facilities on board, with the option to do a couple of days sight seeing if you want.

We did Rome( hot and smelly), Barcelona (amazing) and Nice (amazing).

You will be really looked after too which is a bonus,

We did Marrakech and stayed in a riad in the medina.

I would go somewhere there wont be many dc - so somewhere without kids clubs etc and also somewhere that you wont be able to go for years afterwards.

I know you want short haul but we had a lovely AI Antigua holiday at that stage with our first.

Marrakech is a good plan too - with a really luxurious villa.

Venice good too - disastrous with babies/toddlers, not as relaxing as you want though. Grin

In Marrakech we stayed at the Riad El Fenn - highly recommended
