Hello

Could anybody tell me more about La Manga? Looking for an easy self catering sun holiday with 5 and 3 y.o. Don't have a problem with the resort size but I do worry that it might be noisy or full of big groups. Thank you, thank youm thank you

Hi there,

Went to La Manga with the family a few years ago. We found the whole resort very pleasant, clean etc. But a lot of the people there own their properties on La Manga, so it can be a bit..ahem..elitist.
Good if you like tennis and golf?

Didn't find it noisy really, but thinking of it now there wasn't much shade to be had (seems like a trivial thing) but with a 5 and 3 y.o. wouldn't be much fun.

I seem to remember them offering kids clubs but couldn't really tell you anything about them as kids too old for that.

It was all families when we were there and generally no big groups per sae.

If you listen to nothing else, please don't try and drive yourself from the airport to the resort, its a bloody nightmare, DH driving, rest of family fearing for life. Never again.
Hope this is helpful.

ps. it seemed to be very much for the boden crowd if you catch my drift.

It is going to depend very much on the property you hire. We went a few times when the children were small. Once we had a house with 8 otherscaround a pool and all the other families knew each other so it was a bit odd for us.

But the other timescwere nice and ds1 met some friends to play with.
They do some organised play but we never used it. If there is a big tennis academy going on you may find the restaurants quite crowded.

I wouldn't go there if I needed dcs to have play mates or play clubs. It is a bit hit and miss.

pagwatch! i know exactly the houses you mean, DC were chased out of pool by 'residents' we had mistakenly thought it was a shared pool that our the villa we were staying it had access to!

We stayed in La Manga, the appartment was lovely but our outdoor pools weren't heated and the indoor one for our villas was cold, if we wanted to use the main one in the spa it was 30 euros each.

The size of the complex is HUGE you need to drive to some of the restaurants. Beach is also a drive away although think they may do a bus to it in high season

Kids club is expensive 60 euros a day 3 years ago, although very high quality.

Restaurants of a high quality but again expensive, bonus for me was the Scottish Rugby club training the week we were there.

We might go back when DS is older and could do something like the football training course, but having said that outside the la Manga complex there isn't much worth seeing in the immediate vicinity.

In summary I don't know if it fits the bill for what you are looking for, try searching james villas they have a nice selection of villas and leisure complexes.
