Canaries - 2 bedroom apartment please help!!!

i have been looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for May this year in the canaries somewhere. never been to one of these type apartment complex places (villas aren't in our budget)and am nervous to say the least so am doing my best to find the least hideous place.
anyway... search engines today have been rubbish at providing me with results for 2 bedroom places today so i'd love some help!

well we want two bedroom as the children as we'd like some erm, couple time.

playa blanca in tenerife is being mentioned a lot but i haven't been able to find any 2-bed apartments yet. anyone know any? search engines are beign really rubbish and keep on suggesting two rooms rather than a 2 bed apartment. and if i type in 2 bed apartment i get villas for which you seem to have to pay for 4 adults... am i doign somethign wrong?

other than that we're looking at fuerteventura (as long as there isn't a bed bug problem! though that goes for anywhere obvioulsy!) and lanzarote.

oh and we are two adults, and at that time (may) the kids will be one and three.

and i don't like the cold so heated pools and lack of wind will be great

any help would be much appreciated!

Hi there.
I live in Tenerife and my friend owns a 2 bedroomed apartment on a complex that she rents out all the time.
It is in Los Cristianos and the complex is called Compostella beach apartments so maybe you can google it and let me know if you are interested then i can get the rates from her.
it is right in the centre of a main tourist area and right on the beach.
I think she also has a cot and high chair she can provide.

Another complex to have a look at is -
Parque santiago 3 in Las Americas.

Also google Lupain holiday rentals and home and away and i am sure you will find some things on there in your budget.

let me know if i can help further.

thanks lisa i'll look into that. was hoping to avoid las americas though

Whats your budget glub as there are some good places, but £££ ? Off the top of my head, Princess Yaiza in Lanzarote is meant to be good, we stayed in Regency Country Club in Tenerife had great 2 bed roomed appartments but fair distance from the beach again ££. Try checking out James villas they have leisure villages with quite a lot in the canaries in appartments rather than hotels or villas, but then price it up independantly so it will be cheaper. Oh we found Lanzarote to be windier than Tenerife but may have been time of year we went.

rookiemater · 22/01/2011 16:57

Thought of somewhere else that might fit the bill Sands Beach Resort which is Costa Teguise in Lanzarote. The appartments are focused round pools, the main one of which is heated and it is a nice little walk to the beach and centre of Costa Teguise, not as luxurious as the other options I mentioned, but should be a lot cheaper.

glub · 24/01/2011 15:29

thanks. sands beach according the the co-op travel brochure doesn't have two-bedroomed apartments.

budget is £900 so we'll forget luxury!

haha just realised my fist post was a little rambly due to the wine oops

two bedrooms and a heated pool are essential

oh and we're not driving

the search continues...

Sands definitely has 2 bedroomed, but they don't seem to come up in a search for May, maybe they are being refurbished.

Ok on Expedia Lanzarote 2 bedroomed aparthotel costa mar is £834, VIK Club Coral Beach is £923 but is all inclusive,Apartmentos Flamingo is £667, searching on 02-09/05.

Its often a bit tricker finding 2 bedroom, although we only have one child, we prefer it ourselves. Sometimes what I do is ring up travel agent pick their brain then price up cheaper myself, I know its naughty but budgets are budgets

Theantsgomarching · 24/01/2011 21:46

We stayed in Atlantis palace in Fuertuventura and they def did 2 bed places. Was very nice too.

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2011 21:50

Personally, I love Lanzarote (so pretty) and Playa Blanca is by far the nicest resort on the island. Have a look at holidayrentals.co.uk for apartments, and check reveiws on tripadvisor.co.uk - always good for getting the info from the horse's mouth as they say!

Good luck!

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2011 21:53

Oh, btw, there'll be NO problem with cold in any of the Canaries in May - lovely weather that time of year.

Theantsgomarching · 24/01/2011 21:57

We always use a travel counsellor and I have never priced anything cheaper than he finds it for, and he is excellent and finding what you need, saving you all that frustration. I can pm you his details if you like

RiojaLover75 · 24/01/2011 22:04

DO NOT stay at the Lobos Bahia apartment hotel in Corelleja Fuertaventura, bloody awful Sad.

Cockroaches, cats everywhere, pants food, terrible pool (missing tiles), ants in the apartment. I could go on but wont, we wasted a lot of money on that holiday Angry.

VivaLeBeaver · 24/01/2011 22:07

I stayed at Malibu Park in Costa Adeje in Tenerife a couple of years ago. I'm sure they had 2 bed appts. Don't think pool was heated though.

glub · 25/01/2011 19:49

thanks everyone for your suggestions. rioja that sounds horrible, jebus. i'll most certainly avoid that! may i ask how you found that place?
and theantsgomarching what's a travel counsellor?!

OP posts:
glub · 25/01/2011 19:50

and does he charge?

OP posts:
Theantsgomarching · 25/01/2011 19:57

They are a group of individual travel agents, kind of a franchise, my one works from home around kids school hours etc. He doesn't charge us ( although once we did pay him a fee because he booked using a budget airline and gets no commission from them) gets paid by the holiday provider instead.

I will send him a list of must have and desirable things we wnt, info such as dates and budget and he then finds what we re looking for. He is brilliant and has never failed me....
