Florida Gulf coast resorts

Any recommendations for a family with teenagers to visit this area? Thinking boat trips and beach for couple of days. Probably Clearwater to Sarasota area in particular. Any ideas gratefully received!

We stayed on Anna Maria Island and it was beautiful - we saw a wild manatee and dolphins in the sea, lovely beaches etc. but we self catered and have younger dcs so it might not be what you want.....

Thanks stranded, Anna Maria Island has been mentioned to DH before, will investigate as only planning the coast bit for couple of days other days in Orlando area. Will give it a google!

I should also say that with teenagers you really shouldn't miss Busch Gardens. It's better than Disney for this age range - some brilliant rollercoasters. It is quite a long way from Anna Maria Island but you could go there on the way to/from Orlando as it is on the route.
