Summer holiday in Sweden?

I had a great holiday there as a child.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

DH likes cities; I like the beach, swimming and a bit of time to relax! In the past, we've been to Valencia, Dubrovnik, Nice, which offers all of this. Just wondering if there is such a place in Sweden? would be happy to stay outside a city as long as we could commute in to see some sights.

DCs are 2 and 5.

Stockholm. There are beaches dotted all around the city and people do swim in them - during the day, after work, at weekends.

There is a fab science museum for children called Tom Tits Experiment that we've all loved plus the Pippi Longstocking house - basically a big soft play place with a fun inside train ride and then little shows in Swedish (but mine didn't mind).

Buses are easy - free with a pushchair - the metro is good, everywhere is pushchair accessible with lifts, etc.

There's a lovely big park in the centre with a fenced children's playground with little trikes and with an honesty box for drinks.

It's fun to people watch, good food, everything seems straight forward.

I love it!

If you want lakes and forests (great swimming and boating etc) then I can recommend stenebynas, in the lakes a couple of hours to the north east of Gothenburg. It's a lakeside farm with a few really reallybeautiful holiday cottages.
