I want to take DS on holiday in the summer, he will be 15-17MO (depending on which month we go). I don't like heat, insects or snakes.

Any ideas of places to go on holiday? UK or abroad.

Thanks

Babies are hard work on holiday at that age anywhere you go but I wouldn't let it put your off.

We've flown lots with our DCs, at one point three times in a year with two under twos which wasn't much fun but worth it.

I would avoid flights that are too long / car journeys that are too long and just go where you fancy. We fed ours early evening and put them down in the pram whilst going out and enjoying a nice evening meal ourselves.

Where did you used to go pre-kids?

We went for a week in Cornwall last year when ds was about 15mo, you can get some really nice self catering places which provide lots of baby equipment so you don't have to take a load of stuff (google baby friendly cottages or something like that) You just have to plan your days around the nap, we found we could do a morning activity and then go back to the cottage for lunch, his nap and then do something else later and then take him out with us for an early dinner or just stay in the cottage. Ds was very happy with short trips to the beach, aquarium, gardens/houses etc where he could toddle around and even tolerated a few museum type places. We found it
more relaxing than expected!

Or you could go somewhere in northern France or Ireland which is not too far to drive but a bit of a change to the UK?

We find driving easier as it saves carting all the stuff about and ds will sleep in the car which he won't on trains etc

Good luck!

Pre-kids we used to go to Northern Italy...but i'm not sure about flying with DS...First time will always be a big strenuous.

I like the sound of Ireland, I've never been before.
Lindsell: Did you drive and take the ferry?? we live in oxfordshire so not sure how long the journey would take.

wannabeshootingstar: Thanks for the suggestion of the baby friendly cottages...found lots of interesting ideas.

Thanks ladies
