Ireland holiday resort

We plan on taking the boat Fishgaurd-Rosslare crossing and want a child friendly self catering holiday park, preferably with an indoor swimming pool.

We want to go on lots of day trips when we are there.

Any advice?

How far are you planning to travel once in Ireland? If you are prepared for a longish (but ok) drive then head across to the West Coast to Kerry. Take a look at Banna Beach - they have a holiday park [http://www.bannabeachhotel.net/ here]] and the most wonderful long beach for walking/watersports etc. Close to Tralee (driving) for shops etc, also small village shop up the road in Ardfert. Easy access to days out - close to the most beautiful scenery of Killarney, days out in Dingle, take a trip a bit further north towards/across the Shannon on the ferry etc. The holiday park has a small soft play, outdoor playground, swimming pool and gym too so even if not beach weather there is plenty on site.
Alternative ferry to do this with a lot less driving is the Fastnet line Swansea/cork ferry (overnight so good to break the journey up too)

Thank you beautifulgirls - I am looking that up now.

we are travelling from Belgium and will break the journey up in Bristol, so Swansea very possible.

We have booked here for a week in August... www.carletonyoughal.com.

Have not stayed here before so it is not a recommendation. Youghal is in East Cork so not too far from Rosslare.

It is a complex of villas and apartments and has outdoor pool, playground etc and is on the beach. We were worried about only an outdoor pool but apparently there is a new indoor pool complex in Youghal itself, so could always head for that in poor weather.

Reviews are good on tripadvisor. I booked through www.dreamireland.com and rates were very reasonable.

Try Kelly's in Rosslare. It's an award winning place, very family friendly. not sure if they're self catering tho.

Alternatively, there's a holiday park called Trabolgan, which I think is owned by Pontins. It's in East Cork, about 25 miles from the city. If you don't want to venture too far for day trips, there's lots to see in Cork - the old city gaol (jail), Shandon Bells, Blarney castle, Fota Wildlife Park, Kinsale (gorgeous quaint town - great for little craft/gift shops, seafood restaurants), Jameson Whiskey distillery, etc etc

I could go on and on....

let me know if you want any more Smile

I am taking notes TwoLittlePonitpines!

Hmm not sure about a jail and whisky distillery with three small childrenGrin, but otherwise great advice.
