My husband and i are going to meet 4 couples of friends at the end of feb for lunch. I am looking for a place where we can meet for lunch.

3 couples have children (all under 3) and 2 couples are child-free, and not so into kids-stuff.

The location should be easy to reach from: croydon, wimbledon, balham and greenwich (the 5th couple comes from edinburgh so they dont count!!!!Grin.

Would you have any placeto recommend? Any idea is welcome. Child-friendly pubs or resttaurant, please give me your opinion.

Thanks xxx

I used to live in South London and if meeting people from other areas the South Bank (near Waterloo) was a good bet. There's a Giraffe there which is very child friendly and has a range of food so the grown-ups won't feel too left out either.

Thanks, that's a good idea!

I will definitely consider it.
Any other suggestions?
Anyone?

Cafe Provencal in Herne Hill
The Crown and Greyhond in Dulwich Village
The Florence in Herne Hill

Tas, on The Cut
the giraffe at south bank is a bit too kindergarteny for the child-free

yy to the florence
just remembered The Herne Tavern in East Dulwich. Lovely food, and some play equipment in the beer garden.

CharlotteBrontesaurus, have you hacked onto my brain? I was thinking this afternoon as we went past Tas on our way to Tate Modern 'Tas is a good suggestion - but if I didn't have children I wouldn't want to eat at Giraffe on a Sunday'.

Dartford Arms in Forest Hill - do half portions at half price, and a lovely Sunday lunch.

toddlers are usually very happy with the noodles, chicken, rice-based kids meals on offer at wagamamas. there's one near giraffe on the south bank, and plenty all over the rest of s london. eg wimbledon. but they're not 'kid' places, a good balance for all.

It's just down the road fom the Hornimann Museum and it's wonderful park, so you can have a nice walk afterwards - children heading for the goats and geese, adults round the splendid gardens and lawns, with great views of London.

Also worth considering is the Dulwich Wood House v close to Sydenham Woods. It is a Young's pub with a big beer garden, tables inside, or on a half-inside terrace overlooking the garden. The food isn't as gorgeous as at DartMOUTH arms, but it' OK - and fab for meeting after or before a walk in the fantastic Sydenham Woods

Dulwich Wood House

Sydenham WoodsAccess through a little gate on Peckermans Wood, just down road from the pub.
