good beach , lively but not a 'party capital' we stayed a bit out at tragaki - some parts of the island are built up and very chavvy (guys in footie shirts etc) and other parts are really lovely and family orientated only major problem is the aiport on leaving !!! - ask any one who has been about this flea pit !!

Rumpel · 15/01/2011 20:41

Oh that doesn't fill me with joy! Glad it is not a party capital as we have 2 littlies with us. Thanks for the info. Restaurants any good? Any hotel recommendations?

We've been to Zante for the last 2 years - its absolutely beautiful in places.

We haven't stayed in Tsilivi, but I have heard the beach is good (and has a blue flag?)

We stayed in Alykes the first year - great beach for littlies - very gently shelving and the only bars/restarants (well, some of them) I have come across in Greece with changing tables in loos! Very family friendly.

Stayed in St Ncholas Beach the second time - lovely beach again. Very quiet in the evening.

Sorry I can't help with specifics for Tsilivi, but it looks like it would have everything to hand.

We went on a round the island trip on a large modern boat with a swimming pool on board - really good value - DD was 2 and loved the swimming pool on the boat. Its great to see the shipwreck beach.
If you have a car, dinner in the Sunset restaurant at Kampi is really good for viewing the sunset of course.

Hope you have a great time.

Stayed in Tsilivi october 2009. It as the end of the season so very quiet so cant say how busy it would be during the summer, Also our hotel as at the far end of the beach and away from the village centre so was actually quite peaceful. The beach was nice enough, the hotel was only a short walk and even managed to see a sea turtle when snorkelling.
Did the boat tour round the island which was actually a lot of fun, a few stops for swimming and a trip to the shipwreck cove. There was also a really nice tour company in the village centre (whose name escapes me right now) they did a great mini bus tour of the island.

not a place I would want to get married in
bit chavtastic

Rumpel · 24/01/2011 13:23

Oh well - mixed reports then. Hopefully it will be great. Scottish schools are back then so will it be mostly English people or is it quite mixed European/American etc crowd?

Anyone else got any reports for Alykes?
We are on the verge of booking there with 2 boys (not tinies) and have never taken them to Greece.
Is there 'enough' to do?
We like to have a wander and a mooch round places. We cannot sunbathe all week.
Will be going in May.
How bad will the mozzies be?
Sorry to hi-jack thread, Rumpel but was just about to start one...
