i'm so unexcited by france, greece, italy etc and fancy somewhere a bit different for this year's summer holiday.
i'd like to rent a nice unpretentious character property near the sea, away from too many british tourists. we have dds aged 7 and 9 and are on budget of up to £2k. i'm thinking up to £800 for flights and the rest for 2 weeks accommodation (in august).
oh, and i'd love to go somewhere where we can actually afford to eat out!
any ideas?

Malta?
Madeira?
i guess i just want somewhere less predictable than 2 weeks in menorca... but where? any ideas?
