Going to Sharm el Sheik with 18 month old - some advice!

Hi there
We've just booked a last minute deal to Sharm el Sheik in Egypt. The hotel looks lush, but am now worrying about a few things: will I be able to get fresh whole milk, and does our daughter need any more jabs than she's already had as standard?

Also, any tips for coping with a manic toddler on a 5 hour day time flight - ie. she's unlikely to sleep much, if at all.

Any tips and/or reassurance would be welcome!

I'd pack the milk, if not UHT then formula sachets.
Stay away from the sea! :-)

Hi

We went to marsa alam - south of sharm - with my 15 month old and it was fine.

we took along baby food in case he didnt take to it, but he was munching his way through the buffet like everyone else. hotel had milk - though as flojo says, bring your own in case. watch the sun as it can be pretty intense. all in all though, it was great for us all to be by the coast and play on the beach.

flight wise - depends on the time of your flight - if its a night flight you'll have greater chance of her sleeping. ours refused both ways and just screamed the whole way there and the whole way back. not much you can do - we tried singing, rocking, drinks, food, toys, etc. but he just hated being in a confined space. best tip i can offer is to see if you can get a seat between you and your partner, so that you have a little more space. in the end it really depends on the day how your baby will be, and anyone who has kids will relate to what you're going through. the most ironic thing is that everyone around you sits there with there eyes closed pretending to sleep....!

we're off to hong kong in a few months - thats a 13 hour nightmare!

bon voyage!

Hiya, we are in the same boat, we're going to Sharm in June and our daughter turns 14 months old when we are there, and am worried there won't be any cows milk there for her, I've asked on loads of places and nowhere can give me definite answer, I'm just hoping there is! Surely there must be to make certain foods and at the buffet people must have cups of tea and coffee? I'll be pinching all the little milk sachet things haha! Problem with taking milk is how heavy the stuff is! With a 20kg weight allowance it proves a bit tricky with all the baby stuff as well as your clothes doesn't it.

How old is your daughter?
