Any recommendations for somewhere to stay near Cherbourg for a night?

We've just booked out summer holiday to the Vendee and we're looking for somewhere to spend one night on the way back in or near Cherbourg. Does anyone have any recommendations? We have two DC, 5 and 4.

St Vaast La Hougue is a nice place with a fair amount of accommodation. Stayed here many years ago out of season.

I've been in st Vaast too - La Granitiere was our hotel. There is a good pizzaria neasrby, St Vaast seemed to have a lot of posh restaurants.

Ooh thank you - they both look very nice! It sounds as if Cherbourg itself is a bit of dump?

Barfleur is also a nice.
