Quiet sunny holiday for Summer 2011 any ideas

Any suggestions for a family holiday for Summer 2011? We want to go somewhere quiet, with access to a nice small beach and supermarkets (want to go self-catering) short flight, pool, all for about £200 per person per week (including flights).

Or am I asking the impossible?

Camping?

Pretty close to impossible, but...

Look at the Channel Islands. They are close to France so better weather than the UK (and I have been there in some pretty hot summers). Return flighs would be relatively cheap, or you can get a ferry (from Poole perhaps?). Lots of beaches, you could camp or find a small hotel. It's got lower tax rates so things can be cheaper when you're there too.

If you want somewhere quiet, personally I can't think of anywhere more lovely than Sark (I completely love that place).

You'd save money by staying in the UK - it's the flights etc that will eat up much of your budget.

I agree with Slightly: cheap flight or ferry (with your own car) to the Channel Islands. There's quite a range of self-catering, lots to do, nice beaches and usually warmer/sunnier than the mainland. You don't even need to change money (but do need travel insurance as it's non-NHS and non-EU, but the latter means you do get duty-free).

D'uh! Was really surprised to see some of your answers until I glanced back at my OP and saw I'd put including flights - I meant not including flights. Sorry to have wasted your time! Nice suggestion re Channel Islands - have been to Jersey twice, lovely place.

Have now got a holiday sorted well within budget in Menorca - plus car hire.
