Wizzair's great prices have us considering a weekend jaunt to Hungary. Any suggestions for destinations or what to see/do?

Budapest itself is fantastic. Beautiful buildings, fab food (gorgeous cakes!) and easy transport system. A very hassle free short break, even with kids.

We went for a break in October. I would recommend the following:

• A Day trip to the Danube bend
• A boat trip on the river Danube
• A visit to the Markethalle
• A tour of the parliment buildings (free for EU Passport holders if you book in advance on the internet)
• Swimming at Szechenyi Baths
• Cake at the Lukas Cafe
• An Opera or Ballet performance at the state opera house (very reasonably priced and can be booked in advance online and tickets printed off at home).

Enjoy! It is a Beautiful city.

The terror museum is amazing even if it's a little depressing on holiday.
