Bavaria - best bits?

We are off to the alps in the summer, doing a week in Aschau im Chiemgau but also fancied a week the other side of Bavaria, around Fussen.

Does anyone with any knowledge of the area know if this is a good place to stay? Is there lots to do for the kids? Do you have any recommendations for holiday apartments?

I don't know of Holiday Apartments, but I do know that Playmobil land is there! Also Europa Park is in Rust about 2 hours from Nurnberg.

I would look up Holiday Rentals? They may have some thing in the area.

I work near Nurnberg one week every four and it seems to be a very family friendly area - observing everything with a mum like hawk eye as I do....

It's also very cheap - food, drinks, eating out!

Is chiemsee anywhere near? It's beautiful and great for swimming and boating etc.

Thanks binfull and lizzy!

Didn't know bout playmobil, will google it, ta.

Lizzy, we are near Chiemsee when we stay in Aschau, its just down the road.

Think I may have found somewhere near Innsbruck, just hoping they have vacancies.

We went to a climbing place called Robins wood just north of Augsburg - our boys loved it. They also had great fun in Fussen. We found a fab house through holiday rentals south of Augsburg - walked in the woods a lot, went to the zoo and would have gone to legoland but it was too early in the season.

Playmobil land is brilliant and quite good value.
