Due to a delayed house move we are going to do a break to Tenerife ( we think as flights are reasonable). We are flying from Italy and will be going into the south and probably out of the North ( is this feasible or daft cost of transfer wise?- all the sites give me return prices ...the ones I have waded through).
Scoured Trip advisor re locations and come out confused.Thinking Adeje Fanabe or La Caleta ??
We need a 100% family hotel ( or aparthotel ...) dds 2 and 4. A Suite or large family room. NOt in the wild knees up part of it all but enough to have a wander to shops and small bars etc. Direct access to a beach - vital. SO can anybody help me out just with a few suggestions on main location then I can take it from there.
Thank YOu !

We have stayed at the Los Gigantes spa and suites hotel which was fab, also in las americas the Julio caesar palace which was also fab, and near some nice restaurants and bars

chocolateshoes · 02/01/2011 16:59

We stayed at what used to be the Riu Adeje which is an aparthotel in Fanabe. We last went 2 yrs ago & it was getting a bit tatty - and then it was taken over by another company -

www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g315919-d292720-Reviews-Isabel_Family_Hotel-Adeje_Tenerife_Canary_Islands.html

and is now called Isabel family hotel. Hopefully they'll have spruced it up. haven't read reviews just giving you the link so you can research. certainly it used to be great & in a good location. It is quite a way to the northern airport and wd recommment flying in and out of the south.

chocolateshoes · 02/01/2011 18:13

should have added that you get a v large large bedroon plus large lounge / kitchen.Or you can a get a 2 storey 'house' with bedroom upstars & kitchen lounge downstair & garden. You can do half bd or b&b. The food was awlays excellent - much better than alot of hotels we've stayed in. 2 good pools, kids club. entertainment etc. 5 mins downhill, 15 back to the beach. Loads of space for kids to run around.

Rosa · 02/01/2011 19:27

Thank you will have a look !

Geordie - Is the Julio the Mediterranean Palace Hotel ? As looking on the site it consists of the 3 hotels - mixed reviews on T Advisor in teh past month ...On the web site it does look nice even though a bit big.
The Los Gigantes one doesn't look as if it is on a beach and car hire will be needed- nota problem but wasn't planning it for the entire time plus we will be going in the next month .....

Yes, the mare nostrum resort, think it was the cleopatra or Julio that we stayed in? It's quite an old fashioned hotel, but is very splendid if tHat makes sense, and is in a fab location.

dietqueen · 02/01/2011 23:08

try this one www.marylanza.com/ looks lovely away from main stretch

Rosa · 03/01/2011 10:34

Thanks diet queen ...love the name. Looks nice but not much for the dds as its winter a plaground or play area would be nice as well. Geordie will go back but when I put in families it gives me the other hotel and on TA it says it is full of the over 60s and poor service ..mind you I think at this time of year it will be anywhere that we go ( the older crowd) ! Mind you teh Sir Anthony loks lovely but I guess the 2 yr old will be a bit frowned on especially if she throws a tantrum at dinner ......( plus I wouldn't be able to relax!)

I liked the look of Dream Hotel Gran Resort which I found on travelsupermarket.com. I also like the Abama Hotel but was put off by the cost as wasn't close to any decent towns so we would be tied to the hotel and its rarther inflated prices.

geordieminx · 03/01/2011 22:04

The hotels are all linked together, if you stay in sir Anthony you can use facilities and pools and sich like of other hotels.

Rosa · 04/01/2011 13:11

Thanks will go back and have another look.

Don't go to La Caleta, very nice village with some of the best fish restaurants, but no beaches.
I strongly recommend the Grand Hotel Anthelia - Iberostar. Great for children, great for adults. Connecting rooms, kids club, heated pool. And near the nicest beach, Playa del Duque

Rosa · 05/01/2011 12:18

The Anthelia I really liked the look of but I need to look around for good rates or try and be more flexible in dates as the prices came out a bit too high. We will be booking late however so I am hoping for some good offers......I just want to have an idea on what to look for ( and what to avoid). Thanks

I like the look of the Anthelia too but very pricey at half term. Will have to sweet talk dh. Grin

Hi there.
I live and work in tenerife as a childcarer and i recommend the anthellia to all of my clients as i think it is a fantastic hotel for both children and adults.

I was working there just 2 weeks ago over the christmas break and the children whom i was looking after had a whale of a time.

You are right on a lovely beach with lots to do with little ones.
You have crazy golf, soft play, trampolines, inflatables in the ocean, family bike hire etc.
There are many bars and restaurants too but not at all loud and roudy, they are very plesant.

The hotel itself is just wonderful with a large heated pool (other pools but are not heated) a couple of nice restaurants ... the evening buffet is amazing with themed nights each day.

Kids club is fantastic, with bouncy castle that sometimes comes out and always doing art and crafty things.
The club also has a large outdoor area with a sand pit and climbing frame etc plus a little green where you can play football.

I could go on haha ...

if you need anymore info about this or any other hotel just ask and i will do my best to try and answer your questions.

Also, it would be aprox 50/60 minute transfer from the North airport.

I hope this helps.

Lisa.

I was about to come back to this thread and say Lisa2 is Tenerife expert Grin

gordonpym · 11/01/2011 14:12

Try to have a look at the Grand Hotel costa adeje H10. But the beach is not so close. Otherwise, totally different, but excellent for families is the park europe [http://www.europe-hotels.org/eng/index.asp?secc=/hoteles/park_club_europe].
Park Europe is very central, close to nice beaches, surf spots and shopping.

Lisa2 · 12/01/2011 01:27

Thanks Geordiminx.
Im not sure about being an expert but ... i try LOL.
Ive been here 3 yrs now so know quite a bit about different areas and hotels.

geordieminx · 22/01/2011 20:59

Lisa do you know anything about the roca nivarnia?

geordieminx · 22/01/2011 23:26

(((hoping you spot this)))))

Forget about Roca, I see it's miles away from anywhere. Right so anthelia, is it worth an extra £700 for the 3 of us to go all Inc as opposed ro b&b? I'm kinda veering towards yes, as we spent a hellish amount last year when we stayed at mare nostrum. It works out as £100 a day, which seems a lot, but can go quickly when you factor lunch (20?), dinner (60?), ice creams (10?) and then drinks throughout the day and a few glasses if wine....

Borisismyhousespider · 22/01/2011 23:36

Oh! have stayed at Adeje Fanabe, tis ok, good selection of buffet food for all, kids club n mini disco was well attended, mainly run in italian, spanish and english, staff were very good. (there was a mini disco bit before the evenings hotel entertainment, as is normal with spanish hotels I find) There are good beaches at Adeje and a great soft play and small mall, with local supermarket just over the road from the Fanabe too (if you need nappies n the like)

Lisa2 · 23/01/2011 01:54

I have just finished with a family at rocca nivaria.
Yes it is a bit of a trek and will cost quite a bit in taxis if you want to be in the Las Americas/ Los Cris areas.

I still vouch for the anthelia and the all incluse is fab there.
Evening buffet really amazing.
I cant answer about the pricing but i am sure you would have a better time at the anthelia and with everything right on your door step. x
