Orlando accommodation question please

We're hopefully going for 2 weeks at the end of April. Well, 30th to be exact!

DH does not want to spend everyday driving too and from parks (he drives for a living) so we've found some Hilton Suite Hotels on International Drive that look pretty good and they run too and from the parks.

Is this a good option? We'll probably need a car for may be a couple of days - Busch Gardens for example but will the shuttles take us to all the main parks like Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom etc?

Any thoughts/tips>

Orlando without a care is a nightmare I would imagine.

Shuttles are all very well but what about the evening? I wouldn't consider not having a car there, crossing a road is impossible.

But the shuttles appear to pick up and drop off at your hotel?

Will they take you to the supermarket or out to dinner?

I've used the Universal boat shuttles but they are constantly run between the Universal Parks and Hotels but we still used a car for getting to the other parks and getting around in general.

Just replying to keep it bumped really, you need someone who has done this, not me with my car reliance. Xmas Wink

International Drive is long, very long.

You will need a car believe me. The roads leading into the parks are miles long.

Fwiw, I do the driving in Orlando and DH the navigating, works out well.

Tis ok. We've decided on a car!

We have done orlando a few times without a car but we stayed alot closer to Disney than International Drive. We stayed in lake Buena Vista. There are hotels there right nextdoor (walking distance 5 mins if that) from Downtown Disney. As long as you have Diney tickets you are entitled to use the Disney Transportation (free) to go between parks, disney hotels and Downtown Disney for free. This is where will stay next time. Cannot recall the name of the hotels atm, but you may find them on Google Earth.

We stayed a 20 min walk away but with free shuttles there and back at The Blue Heron Beach resort last time - lots of restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

We also recommend Michael Daley Transportation for getting around if you do decide not to use a car but want to go to the malls/walmart etc.

We have done disney without a car. If you stay in a value Disney hotel it is easy and very relaxing not to have a car.

We stayed in Hilton Doubletree Suites on i-Drive. Definitely needed a car. Had hardly any problems with traffic.
