yep and yep

on returning from oz our suitcase wasn't there so itr was brought to us from gatwick to sheffield the next day

Yes and yes.

We went to Malta for 3 days. Our luggage went to New York apparently.

Got it back on the day we were leaving.

I was heavily pregnant at the time and not amused - not many maternity shops in Malta.

Yep on returning from holiday our lugage was partying in Italy (dunno why we'd been to Saudia Arabia). We filled out the forms at Heathrow and both suitcases (complete with contents) were delivered to our house about a week later.

it has been about six weeks. Dhj lost his luggage on an Air India flight from delhi to New York (via heathrow) . When he got off at heathrow, his luggage apparently went on to New York. We cant get any answers. Dh's work are putting a claim into the insurance now, just wondered if it will ever turn up or its a never situation

Yes and yes. Sat on the tarmac at Gatwick and took a week to come to us!

Wallace · 26/09/2005 21:07

When we flew to Zimbabwe recently nobody's luggage turned up

we had had to change planes at heathrow befroe we took off (a loading vehicle crashed into us) and despite it taking 4 hours until we got on another plane, they apparently didn't have time to load the luggage on...oh, and they didn't tell us until we were coming in to land ! It took 2 days to turn up (not bad) but was soaking wet - I wonder how long it sat on the tarmac for...

Yes, I've lost luggage a few times, but it's always turned up within a few days. Six weeks is an awfully long time for luggage to be missing. Do they have a tracking/baggage claim number? What are they telling you when you call the help line?

My sister told me there is a luggage/unclaimed baggage warehouse someplace in Alabama where people can shop/purchase items that were lost in the system. Makes me wonder about all the people who were missing those items.

Yes, twice with KLM between Vienna & Manchester (via Amsterdam). Both times when travelling with ds who was about 2 at the time. Suitcases arrived in 24-48 hrs.

Damm I thought this was another Sawyer V Jack thread

SenoraPostrophe · 26/09/2005 22:36

I haven't, but I have walked off with someone else's case by mistake.

I took it back the next day - 4 hour round trip.

Bellie · 26/09/2005 22:41

dh has loads of times - always got it back though -longest was 12 days from New York to Heathrow. Although when it got to us it had been opened and stuff nicked from inside

eidsvold · 27/09/2005 00:03

yes and yes - I changed planes on internal flights in the US - but one piece of my luggage went on to Denver whislt I went onto Florida. It was delivered to me the next night.

Had friends lose luggage coming back from the States - it eventually turned up - bag and been cut open and despite all new trainers etc - the only bits taken were the son's new trainers and shirts... strange - given the whole family's new stuff was in that bag.

janeybops · 27/09/2005 00:09

yes and yes it turned up the next day and they couriered it to where I was staying. Plus got soem cash compenstion to go out and buy emergency supplies too. But only got that coz we went and found the airline office in the airport terminal. They were so shocked I think they just gave us money to go away!

QueenOfQuotes · 27/09/2005 00:11

yes and yes.

One of our bags (contained the few wedding presents we had space to pack ) went missing on the way from Harare to London (via Jo'burg and Zurich).

It turned out it was left in Zurich, but arrived at our house (in Bedford) about 2hrs after we got back there - so didn't wait long at all really

amylou · 27/09/2005 13:28

I've lost luggage a few times - nearly everytime I've flown! my then partner wouldnt put anything of his in my suitcase cause I was so unlucky!
Once I lost it on the way back from Canada and it took 6 months to get back to me!

Fimbo · 27/09/2005 13:35

Yes, but delivered to my house within 24 hours. Keep wishing they would lose/damage my pram as I would like to buy a new one but dh will not hear of it.
