It is my 10th wedding anniversary in January. DH and I want to have a special holiday somewhere warm. I will be 26 weeks pregnant by the time our anniversary rolls round, so dont want to go to far (thinking 5 hour flight max) with good medical facilites if something goes wrong. ANy suggestions.?

Any of the Canaries?

cori · 26/09/2005 10:07

Dont think that will be warm enough. Probably want to go a little further afield.

You've got me stumped then, Morroco, Tunisia are the only other places I can think at the moment. Or wonder how long a flight to The Gambia is, think that's West Africa? Or Goa in India? Never been to any of these places but they are on my wish list!

Egypt is 5 hrs flying time. Sharm el Sheik is nice. Don't know what medical facilities like though.

Dubai is a bit further,(8 hrs??) but it will be warm, and there are some fab hotels

Never been but Dubai and this resort sounds special

Al Maha Desert Resort

Dubai is very nice, about 7-8 hours. very pleasant, dry heat when I was there. Not sure about the medical facilities though.

That resort does look very nice, however is $9000 for a week, a bit out of the price range.

I had considered Egypt, though is suitable for a 6month pregnant woman.
I have been to Tunsia, I dont think I would risk Morroco this time, ( though would love to go there in the future.

Any other suggestions?

How about Jordan (Aqaba), Eilat or Muscat in Oman, or Abu Dhabi or somewhere cheaper than the Al Maha in Dubai (it's the most expensive hotel there I believe, with the 7* Burj al Arab sail shaped hotel running a close second). Having said that, Dubai had very poor weather last Christmas/New Year and it was mainly cloudy, windy and even rainy when we went in February. Egypt is a closer alternative although I think it gets dark quite early (4.30 ish) around December/January - could be wrong about that though. Or what about a cruise?

oh, and cori, many congratulations by the way on your forthcoming anniversary AND baby

I think Egypt could be a possibility actually. Any one know what the temperature is that time of year.
