What to do for an hour in Leicester or Peterborough!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're driving Newbury to Skegness on Friday (a week at Butlins!!!!!) and because the drive is 4 hours we want to stop half way through, maybe go to a shopping centre or similar, easy to access and parking etc, so we can wander round for half an hour, stretch our legs then grab some lunch (ds is 18 months so won't like a 4 hour slog)

We can go either via Leicester or Peterborough, does either have a nice accessible shopping centre? Or maybe some other attraction we can stop at for a hour that would be nice?

Peterborough has the queensgate shopping centre - lots of parking. Has the usual shops - plus seating areas. Could go to m&s as has a cafe plus could get some lunch from waitrose. There's also a john Lewis with a baby nappy change area. Could see the cathedral - only a short walk from the shopping centre.

Peterborough is crapsville. I can say that as I was born and brought up there. Dire. Couldn't wait to leave.

I worked in Leicester for a while - better bet I'd say!

HMCarefully - peterborough isn't that bad!!!

handlemecarefully · 25/09/2005 23:21

Sorry milward - are you living there? I freely admit that my perception of it may be coloured by an not altogether blissful childhood. I haven't been back in 10 years!

hmc - not moving, just for an hour

lol

HMC - Just know it well though not living there. I like the queensgate as it has the usual shops without the rain factor! Plus it's a small city which I like. Like the expression you used though
lunavix - an hour there should be fine!!!! Sometimes traffic is heavy at peaktimes.

handlemecarefully · 25/09/2005 23:31

Good, I haven't offended you with my size 9's straight in there then

milward · 25/09/2005 23:33
