yay or nay see my posting below , have heard from a friend of villa to rent there but can anyone advise if theres stuff to do there

I've stayed near there. I don't mind it but if you are looking for cute rustic authentic non-greasy spoon Spain, it's not the place to go.

You can fly to Murcia or Alicante. The beaches are nice but the whole coast to Alicante is all built up with holiday villas and white hotels. There are some lovely towns nearby (Oriheula, Elche) for trips, I would say it's pretty good for the kids as well (though I went pre-kids so can't advise).

villas can be packed in. The whole area is really developed and has no soul. We went there about 3 years ago and stayed in a lovely villa but the area was deserted (lots of villas but most were unoccupied even in peak season)
