Paradors in spain

Anyone any experience of Paradors. DH & I hope to spend a week in Northern Spain next June/July without DC (!!!!)

Any recommendations welcome...

Hi - I've been to paradors - just not in Northern Spain. In my experience they were lovely - unusual buildings and luxurious without being impersonal like some high starred hotels. the breakfast and rooftop pool at the Malaga one was to die for. I was a bit worried that being owned by the state they'd be a bit basic but not at all. Go for it - esp if you're leaving teh kids behind! Check on trip advisor for reviews of any particular ones.

Go to the one in Baiona, beautiful setting above the rocks. Also like the look of the one in Santillana del mar. That's not by the sea tho' despite its name.
