Can anyone recommend a good pub Sunday lunch (possibly carvery) not too far off the M4 midway between Bristol and London, thinking about Newbury or Hungerford. Elderly relatives not able to travel too far meeting together for a early Christmas celebration.

There is The Bear at Hungerford.

The Hare nr Lambourn (J15) is a lovely treat.

The Red House at Marsh Benham (30 seconds off the A4 half way between Hungerford and Newbury). I recommend eating in the bar area rather than more formal restarant.

The Coach at Beedon/Worlds End

The Coach at Beedon, The wine press at the Donnignton Valley hotel, The Red House at Highclere. The Crab is principally a fish place, The Red House at Marsh Beenham Has recently been taken over so unsure as to it's quality. If they like to eat lots the Winterbourne arms.
We always take the elderly grandparents to Donnington Valley they can always get a seat in the bar before lunch, plenty of room between the tables at lunch not too noisy etc.
