Somewhere between Birmingham and Manchester....any ideas..

Hi

We want a hotel and ideally something to do next Friday and then stay over Friday night enroute to the North!

We want to do something between Birmingham and Manchester as are going to north of Manchester on Saturday.

Our DC's are 6 and 3 and it's dh'S birthday. We originally thought of Drayton Manor Park and Zoo but its shut.

Any ideas or places to stay greatly received. Budget for hotel £100 ish.

Hmm - I was going to suggest theMonkey Forest as it's just 10 minutes from the M6 but that's shut on Fridays too. Would have been ideal for your two, plus there's shopping and a hotel right nearby.

There's Alton Towers but it's expensive and the little ones won't get a huge amount from it (although you could go to the Water Park rather than the theme park. Hotel appears to be booked up though.

West Midlands Safari park?

Not that near the M6 but...
