They seem to be about the same temperature

Is there any good reason to choose either?

No, it is def not the same temperature. Red sea is a lot warmer, but the days are shorter. By 4, there isn't sun anymore. Can't write more tonight but do an ADVANCED SEARCH with my name, and you'll find another thread about egypt. Sorry!

We went to Egypt last Christmas and are going back this year as well. I think if you want Guaranteed good weather In the 24-27 degree range) then Egypt is the much better bet. I don't think you get guaranteed sun in the canaries.

Well I still haven't decided

The cosmos site doesn't make it easy as you cant have 2 windows open at the same time

I would go for Egypt -guaranteed sun.

Mumbybumby · 16/11/2010 19:19

We're off to Egypt for guaranteed sun (last hol before DC2 arrives in Jan!) we've been before and I would def recommend it.

KatyMac · 16/11/2010 19:20

Even looking at just Egypt the choice is still big

What sort of holiday do you want? Lazing about or activity? Do you want all inclusive or happy to eat out? (the last Egypt holiday we has, we paid for AI but went out every night for meals as the restaurant at the hotel was very crowded).

If you went somewhere like Sharm, it will be busy during the evenings with plenty going on, though very touristy. There are some good restaurants around Sharm and Naama Bay. You can do a 2 day trip to Cairo if you want something cultural and there is plenty of diving and snorkelling too.

Thanks DH is leaning towards Canaries

I am wondering about a villa (more cooking)
