Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to post this thread, but I can't seem to find a more appropriate location.
At Gatwick airport South Terminal (Gates 1-5) I was recently unfortunately obliged to use the "baby changing facilities" (HA!). I followed the signage and entered the ladies' loos - which had absolutely NO baby changing facilities at all. No fold down tray, no hygienic bin, nothing other than 2 cubicles (both in use) and the usual wash hand basins. As I was prevented from leaving this gate area for security reasons, (Belfast flight - what a joke) I was forced to change my weeks old baby on the FLOOR OF THE DISABLED LOO - which had not, as far as I could see, been used by anyone with actual disabilities, but by those with particular bowel trouble. Utterly vile, utterly demeaning and truly disgraceful. Had I known, I would have preferred to change my baby on the check in desk.
I have sent a message of complaint to customer services at the airport, noting their significant investment in the new security area by the food court at the same time and expressing my utter horror at the facilities provided, given that the airport is the predominant departure location for package holidays (and therefore sees a lot of family traffic) in the south east of England.
Horrific and utterly unnecessary in this day and age. (And don't get me started on the lack of places to sit and BF in peace there...)
