Legoland Fireworks - Worth Going or Not?!

To all you Legoland experts :) ... we have season tickets for Legoland this year and wondered if the fireworks are worth going for. Heard horrendous tales of 2 hours+ to get out of the carpark at the end etc. Not so bothered about going on any rides that day but if we arrive in time for the fireworks would there actually be any parking spaces left?

If we use priority parking, apparently you have to get there before midday, otherwise it's full up... is that correct?

Also, are any of the carparks quicker to get out of than others?

If we do decide to go earlier and go on some rides I was thinking of splashing out on some Q-bots - are they worth the money?

And finally (!) do any of the firework days tend to be busier/quieter than others as we could be flexible as to which day to go?

Thanks in advance!

The fireworks are fantastic, the best display we've seen. There is a long wait if you want to get a good vantage point. As it is extra busy, have not attempted to go on too many rides on the day as content with just going for the fireworks. We've never arrived before midday and have always managed to find parking.

The queue to get out is long but it is to be expected. It is worth the long wait to exit.

Have fun!

We went last year. Completely unintentionally - we just planned a day there at the end of the season. We were so glad we stayed for them - they were amazing. I have been to so many disappointing displays and that one really put a smile on my face.

thanks both of you. Seems to be a general consensus that the fireworks are worth it...

The fireworks are worth it... But I'll only charge you £10 if you want to watch them from the comfort of my garden! Wink
No car park hassle.... Grin

Fireworks def worth seeing.

I was staff there one fireworks event some years back... very very busy day, lots of people in park. It gets very cold on the site... so gloves, hats are a must.

Some rides open up after the fireworks to try to help ease congestion as people leave. I expect they will be doing that again, which rides though will depend on operational circumstances.

No one can leave or enter the carpark during the fireworks show. The road access is closed during that time, as it is typically a fall-out area for the fireworks. Not sure how things will be changed given the current building work on the site (new ride - Atlantis, and Lego Hotel), though I expect it will be like previous years with the road access being closed.

Priority parking I don't think will make a lot of difference... though it is nearer the exit barriers. Wouldn't bother paying the extra if it were me - but then I would aim to stay for some rides after the fireworks and leave later on after the initial rush.

It is a very long day... it can take you a long time to get home, especially if heading to the M4 (that route for some reason always seems to be busier).

Arriving in early afternoon is usually fine... wouldn't leave it later than 3pm though. They do reserve the right to refuse you entry. Having an annual pass does not guarantee entry. It will depend on the number of people already in the park.

Never used Q-bot. Not something I would pay for. It won't speed up queue time... it just means you are not physically standing in the queue. Given the main reason you are there is for the fireworks, you could concentrate on the less popular rides perhaps... check queue time board on arrival to get a feel for which rides are quieter.

No difference between the visitor numbers per day from what I recall.

Went last year. The thing the children remember most fondly is the two hours we had to spend sitting in the car afterwards because of the huge traffic jams when the fireworks were done.

I could have saved a fortune by taking them for a short drive and parking the car up somewhere for a couple of hours. Smile

You're on, big fat hotdogs! Grin

Great, thanks for all the additional info. Looks like if we go then we have to spend the afternoon there too & put up with the humungous queues for the rides!

Ladybug, thanks for your kind offer - have messaged you separately :)

I went on Friday - not a Fireworks day but was beginning of half term. We managed to go on 4 rides in 5.5 hours. So certainly don't expect to go on many rides... queues will be long.

Don't forget Hat and Gloves - gets very chilly waiting for fireworks to start.

ChippyMinton · 27/10/2010 23:01

I went last saturday, arrived just before 5 and parked in the first car park - lots of people were leaving, not staying for the fireworks.

Best plan is to stay on after the fireworks - several rides are open. We eventually left about 8.30 and the car park was practically empty.

RustyBear · 29/10/2010 15:14

Don't go today - they've had a power cut & the fireworks have been cancelled...

MassiveKnob · 29/10/2010 15:45

just got this email from them.

Dear

Today LEGOLAND Windsor experienced a power failure and as a result of this incident, the Park has now postponed tonight?s fireworks display until Sunday 7th November.

We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this has caused. For anyone who has purchased a ticket for today, this will be valid on a future day at LEGOLAND.

Kind regards

LEGOLAND Windsor

Thanks for posting that - I will double-check before I go tomorrow.
