FRENCH PROTESTS - will our train run on friday night?

hi, we're taking an overnight train from paris to milan on friday night, but i hear terrible things about what's going on in france at the moment re protesting/blockading/general unrest that we can only dream of in this country (i wish we cared enough to protest rather than complaining and then doing nothing).

is there a chance our train will not be running? how can i find out? i looked on the sncf website and on seat61.com and there was no mention of any trouble. am i overreacting? perhaps it is an italian train, and so not affected at all [hopeful emoticon].

any knowledge gratefully received...

thanks.

Today is the general strike day, and about 1 in 2 TGVs are running. There are fuel strikes going on as well but I think the SNCF are only on strike on the general strike days.

Of course that doesn't mean there won't be another general strike day later this week.

Can you read French?

The infolignes sncf site is updated the night before to tell you which trains are running during the strike.

It was accurate for me travelling last Friday.

merci beaucoup... i imagine my french is good enough to read infolignes, and if not i can ask my mum...

the train is not a tgv, hopefully that will be something in our favour.

now i just have to hope that they don't call another general strike on friday.

thanks to both Smile
