Planning to book (v expensive!) long haul tickets with BA over Christmas.

Is it too big a risk considering their strike tendency?

Depends where you're going and the alternatives you've got.

tiredemma · 14/10/2010 10:02

I just wouldn't.

Is there no other airline that you can use?

We are going away on 23rd dec (not longhaul unfortunately!) but I chose a low cost airline over BA (could afford the BA seats)just because im more confident of them actually flying.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 14/10/2010 10:02

No. Although I never fly BA anyway.

mumoverseas · 14/10/2010 12:16

NO NO NO!
We were booked with them for last Christmas but ended up having to pay for flights with another airline because of their threatened strikes. We had to return to the UK to pick up two children from boarding school so had no choice but to ensure that we got back.

We are going to the states next week and although in previous years have flown BA we won't be risking it for a while and are using a different airline.

If you are planning a luxury long awaited holiday, I just wouldn't risk it

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/10/2010 14:13

Where are you flying to?.

Yes I would still use them simply because the vast majority of long haul flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick flew last time during the strike.

If the longhaul flight you are considering is from Gatwick I would be even happier to use them. The aircrews there are not actually in disagreement with the management!.

Hulababy · 14/10/2010 14:15

I would look at using any other airline if you can TBH. I just couldn't trust BA staff at the moment. Christmas is the type of time they are so likely to chose for action.

Itsjustafleshwound · 14/10/2010 14:16

I have and I am just hoping and keeping fingers crossed that we will be home for Christmas without too much stress ...

All the other direct flights were booked for the days I wanted Sad

MollieO · 14/10/2010 14:22

We are flying New Year and I have deliberately avoided booking with BA despite them giving me loads of airmiles from the last strike.

Drayford · 15/10/2010 00:25

Where are you flying op? There are many options other than BA, wherever you wish to go......
